How the IV50 Humidity Trigger mode works

How the IV50 Humidity Trigger mode works

The IV50 Intelligent Ventilator is equipped with a humidity trigger mode designed to react to the humidity of an adoptive space and set the ventilation fan speed for the regeneration / HRV mode depending on the space's relative humidity level.

Inside the IV50 is a humidity sensor which measures an indoor space's relative humidity.  Too much humidity in a space can be a hazard as it provides opportunity for mold and other harmful compounds to grow if not properly mitigated.  This is one of the reasons why rooms that contain showers and tubs are required to have ventilation such as a window or one-way vent fan.  The IV50 can also provide ventilation to this type of space.

The IV50 has three humidity trigger modes which can be set using the IV50 remote, or the buttons on the side of the unit.  Here is how each mode works:

Humidity Setting Low:
  • Fan speed adjusts to low speed when RH is between 50 - 55%
  • Fan speed adjusts to medium speed when RH is between 56 - 60%
  • Fan speed adjusts to high speed when RH is above 60%
Humidity Setting Middle:
  • Fan speed adjusts to low speed when RH is between 60 - 65%
  • Fan speed adjusts to medium speed when RH is between 66 - 70%
  • Fan speed adjusts to high speed when RH is above 70%
Humidity Setting High:
  • Fan speed adjusts to low speed when RH is between 70 - 75%
  • Fan speed adjusts to medium speed when RH is between 76 - 80%
  • Fan speed adjusts to high speed when RH is above 80%

The IV50 will stay in HRV mode when the humidity trigger is active, meaning it will cycle between intake and exhaust supply constantly until the humidity reaches below the established mode threshold.
